Mobile internet with VPN support
Puli is equipped with the Quectel EG25-G modem — the global version, fully compatible with Ukrainian operators Kyivstar (recommended), Lifecell and Vodafone. After basic setup and connecting to a VPN service, the router provides a secure Wi-Fi network for all connected devices — phones, laptops, tablets. The VPN runs at the router level, so there’s no need to install a separate VPN client on every device.
Puli supports two protocols — WireGuard (real-world speed ~35 Mbps) and OpenVPN (~5 Mbps), making it compatible with most commercial VPN services. For the best compatibility, speed and privacy protection, we recommend GemiGuard VPN.
Battery life and backup power
The built-in 5000 mAh lithium-polymer battery delivers real-world runtime of 5–7 hours. Puli supports continuous charging, so you can keep it permanently plugged into the mains as a stationary router with backup power in case of a blackout. It’s powered via USB Type-C (5 V / 2 A) — Puli also runs from a power bank.
Privacy and cybersecurity with GemiGuard Mirage Pro
The GemiGuard Mirage package is available for Puli in its Pro edition — our software solution for enhancing the privacy, anonymity and cybersecurity of GL.iNet devices. Mirage Pro for the GL-XE300 includes: automated IMEI randomization when the SIM card is swapped, MAC address and BSSID randomization, system log wiping, removal of connected Wi-Fi client history and hardened encrypted DNS. These features significantly reduce the device’s digital footprint and protect the user’s privacy.
About IMEI: IMEI randomization on Puli is automated — Mirage Pro sets a new valid random IMEI every time you swap the SIM card, so manual modem AT commands are no longer needed. The trigger for rotation is the SIM swap itself.
Puli vs Mudi V2 — which model to choose?
Customers often compare these two models. Puli is the more affordable portable 4G router option with VPN and a battery. The key differences:
- Mudi V2 supports two Wi-Fi bands (2.4 and 5 GHz), whereas Puli operates only on 2.4 GHz — for most real-world usage scenarios, 5 GHz offers no noticeable advantage.
- Mudi V2 supports the Tor network, Puli does not.
- Both models support Mirage Pro with automated IMEI randomization on a SIM swap.
- Battery life differs slightly: Mudi V2 — 6–8 hours, Puli — 5–7 hours.
- Mudi V2 has a built-in OLED display. Puli has no screen — interaction is via the web administration panel or the GL.iNet app for iOS and Android.
If you need a reliable, secure portable router at an affordable price with the full Mirage Pro feature set, Puli is an excellent choice.
Networking features and protection
Puli supports WPA3 encryption, Cloudflare DNS over TLS to protect DNS queries from interception, IPv4 and IPv6 protocols, and a built-in firewall. The router is equipped with one WAN and one LAN Ethernet port (10/100 Mbps), a Nano-SIM slot, a USB 2.0 port and a MicroSD card slot (up to 512 GB) — handy for local data storage or deploying a file server via Samba. The device operates in several modes: classic router, access point (AP), wireless or wired bridge.
