Privacy and anonymity

Mudi 7 is built for people who need maximum privacy on the road. WireGuard and OpenVPN run directly at the router level — all traffic from every connected device passes through the encrypted tunnel with no need to install a VPN client on each device separately. Hardware acceleration delivers up to 600 Mbps for WireGuard and up to 700 Mbps for OpenVPN with DCO — fast enough to keep up with a 5G link. We recommend the GemiGuard VPN service for maximum compatibility and performance.

Mudi 7 is fully compatible with GemiGuard Mirage — our software for IMEI randomization, log wiping and removal of network-activity traces. Mirage substantially raises the anonymity of a mobile connection and turns Mudi 7 into one of the most private portable routers on the market.

Tor is also supported for anonymous browsing, along with encrypted DNS (DNS over TLS) to protect DNS queries from interception.

Off-grid internet during a blackout

Mudi 7 is a fully self-contained device: a built-in battery, a built-in 5G modem and tri-band Wi-Fi. During a power outage you need neither a separate modem nor an external router — just insert a SIM card and switch Mudi on. The 5380 mAh battery delivers up to 13.5 hours of secure internet on a single charge. 24 W PD fast charging over USB Type-C from any power bank, laptop or car adapter keeps downtime between sessions to a minimum.

If you are after a more budget-friendly blackout solution, consider the GL.iNet Puli AX GL-XE3000 — a portable 5G router with external antennas — or the GL.iNet Opal GL-SFT1200 paired with a USB modem and a power bank.

Cellular connectivity, dual SIM and eSIM

The built-in modem on the Qualcomm Dragonwing X72 platform supports 5G NR Sub-6 (3GPP Rel-17, up to 4.67 Gbps) and LTE Cat 20/18 with the EU-variant frequencies, including every band used by Ukrainian carriers. It works with Kyivstar, Lifecell and Vodafone — we recommend Kyivstar, since speeds are usually best. Two Nano-SIM slots plus the built-in eSIM run in Dual SIM Dual Standby mode: switch carriers with a single tap when one operator’s coverage or speed drops. Two TS-9 connectors accept external antennas for difficult reception conditions.

Tri-band Wi-Fi with the 802.11be standard

Mudi 7 broadcasts on three bands at once — 2.4, 5 and 6 GHz — using the IEEE 802.11be (Wi-Fi 7) standard, for a combined throughput of up to 688 + 2882 + 5765 Mbps. 320 MHz channels and 4K-QAM modulation keep dozens of devices connected at once — laptops, phones, cameras, work terminals. It’s home-router-class performance in a form factor that fits in a pocket.

Touchscreen and control

The 2.8″ colour touchscreen gives you full control of the device with no web panel or app: check connection status, turn the VPN on and off, switch SIM cards, manage connected clients and share Wi-Fi via a QR code — all right on the screen. Detailed configuration is still available through the web interface or the GL.iNet app: firmware updates, client monitoring and firewall settings.

Wired ports, USB-C and performance

The 2.5 Gbps WAN/LAN port lets you connect Mudi 7 to a wired line or Starlink and use it as your main secure router. Two USB Type-C ports split power and data: one is dedicated to charging, the other is USB 3.1 at up to 10 Gbps, with USB tethering and USB OTG. Multi-WAN supports automatic failover and load-balancing across cellular, a Wi-Fi repeater, USB tethering and Ethernet.

OpenWrt and advanced capabilities

The OpenWrt operating system gives you full control over settings and access to more than 2000 additional packages. AdGuard is supported for network-wide ad and tracker blocking, alongside encrypted DNS, DDNS and flexible firewall management.

GemiGuard Mirage for Mudi 7. On request we install the full Mirage Pro version — IMEI randomization, MAC and BSSID randomization, DNS encryption, system-log wiping, removal of the connected Wi-Fi client history and elimination of other network-activity traces. A full device personalization service is also available separately — custom scripts and other parameters tailored to your needs. More about Mirage →
