A 4G LTE VPN router with IEEE 802.11ax, a built-in LTE Cat 12 cellular modem, and dual-SIM support. The Spitz Plus is built for scenarios where uninterrupted internet connectivity is critical — at home, in the office, or in the field. The device delivers automatic failover between several internet sources, guaranteeing stable, secure network access even when the primary channel goes down.

Cellular connectivity and dual-SIM support

The Spitz Plus is equipped with a Quectel EG120K-EA 4G LTE Cat 12 modem that delivers high-speed mobile internet. The modem is fully compatible with Ukrainian carriers Kyivstar (recommended), Lifecell, and Vodafone. The device has two nano-SIM slots, letting you use cards from different carriers at the same time — for example, Kyivstar in the first slot and Lifecell in the second. The Spitz Plus also fully supports the eIoTClub physical eSIM card (purchased separately).

Failover — three layers of connection protection

The key advantage of the Spitz Plus is its multi-layered failover. The router supports up to three levels of automatic failover: primary WAN connection → SIM 1 → SIM 2. If the primary wired connection from your internet provider is lost, the device automatically switches to the cellular network through the first SIM card. If that carrier also becomes unavailable, it switches to the second SIM card. The entire process is automatic and requires no user intervention.

A typical use case: Starlink or a wired ISP as the primary internet source via the WAN port, with the Spitz Plus LTE Cat 12 modem as the backup channel. While the primary connection is working, the cellular modem stays on standby. When the WAN drops, the VPN router instantly switches over to mobile internet. This makes the Spitz Plus an ideal solution for networks where connection reliability is a priority.

In addition to failover, the Spitz Plus also supports load balancing.

VPN and encryption

The Spitz Plus supports the WireGuard (real-world speed ~190 Mbps) and OpenVPN (~30 Mbps) protocols and is compatible with most commercial VPN services. The VPN runs at the router level — once configured, all traffic from every connected device passes through the encrypted tunnel automatically, with no need to install a separate VPN client on each device. For the best compatibility, speed, and privacy protection, we recommend GemiGuard VPN.

Strong signal reception and operation in challenging RF conditions

The Spitz Plus is fitted with four external antennas on SMA connectors — two for cellular connectivity (full-band, 600 MHz – 3.8 GHz) and two for Wi-Fi (PR-SMA, 2.4 and 5 GHz). The high-gain antennas deliver stable reception in the field, in remote areas, and in conditions of weak or congested cellular signal. The antennas are detachable and replaceable — if needed, you can fit specialized external antennas to optimize reception for a specific scenario.

Privacy and cybersecurity with GemiGuard Mirage

The GemiGuard Mirage package is available for the Spitz Plus — our software solution for boosting the privacy, anonymity, and cybersecurity of GL.iNet devices. Mirage for the GL-X2000 includes: BSSID randomization, MAC address randomization, automatic system log clearing, deletion of the history of connected Wi-Fi clients, hardened encrypted DNS, and other security improvements. These features dramatically reduce the device’s digital footprint and protect the user’s privacy.

Spitz Plus vs GL.iNet Spitz AX — which model to choose?

Customers often compare these two models. The Spitz Plus costs more than twice as little as the Spitz AX. The Spitz AX is equipped with a 5G modem — a high-cost component. If 5G coverage and maximum cellular connection speed are critical, the Spitz AX is an excellent choice. However, much of Ukraine still has no 5G coverage, and for the vast majority of real-world scenarios the Spitz Plus’s LTE Cat 12 modem delivers more than enough speed. If 5G is not a mandatory requirement and price matters, the Spitz Plus is the obvious choice.

Network features and protection

The Spitz Plus supports the IEEE 802.11ax standard (802.11ax) with dual-band coverage — up to 574 Mbps on 2.4 GHz and up to 2402 Mbps on 5 GHz. MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies ensure efficient operation in networks with a large number of simultaneously connected devices. The device is equipped with two 1 Gbps Ethernet ports (1 WAN + 1 LAN), a USB 2.0 Type-A port, and two nano-SIM slots, and it supports encrypted DNS, MAC address cloning, TTL configuration, DDNS, and a built-in firewall with port forwarding and DMZ. The router operates in several modes: classic router, access point (AP), wireless or wired bridge — letting you integrate it flexibly into any existing network. Power is supplied via a DC5521 connector (12 V / 2.5 A), with support for a wide input voltage range of 9–36 V — opening up the option of connecting to an uninterruptible power supply or a vehicle’s electrical system. A wall mount (adhesive or screw) is included in the package.
