Flint (GL-AX1800) is a dual-band router on the 802.11ax standard, built for homes and offices with dozens of devices connected at once. Combined Wi-Fi speed reaches 1800 Mbps (600 Mbps on the 2.4 GHz band and 1200 Mbps on the 5 GHz band), and MU-MIMO and OFDMA technologies keep latency low even under heavy load. Five gigabit Ethernet ports, a USB 3.0 port and built-in WireGuard and OpenVPN support make Flint a dependable hub for a home network.
Full VPN protection for the entire network
Flint supports the WireGuard and OpenVPN protocols — as both client and server — at the router level. All traffic from every device on the network passes through an encrypted tunnel automatically, including guest devices and ones that can’t run a VPN on their own. There’s no need to install a separate app on each phone, laptop or TV. WireGuard delivers up to 500 Mbps and OpenVPN up to 500 Mbps thanks to hardware DCO acceleration; 30+ VPN services are supported. In VPN-server mode, Flint routes traffic from remote devices back into your home network through a secure tunnel. We recommend the GemiGuard VPN service for maximum compatibility and performance.
The 802.11ax standard: OFDMA, MU-MIMO and BSS Coloring
Flint is built on the 802.11ax standard. OFDMA technology lets a single transmission serve several devices at once, sharply improving efficiency on a busy network. MU-MIMO processes several data streams in parallel instead of queuing them — reducing latency in dense networks with dozens of clients. BSS Coloring measures how busy the Wi-Fi channels are and automatically picks the least congested one, lowering the risk of interference and improving connection stability.
Five gigabit ports and USB 3.0
Flint is equipped with five gigabit Ethernet ports — one WAN and four LAN — for NAS servers, gaming consoles, workstations and video streaming at full wired speed. The USB 3.0 port accepts a USB modem for a backup internet channel (tethering) — handy when your main connection goes down.
OpenWrt and network features
The OpenWrt operating system gives you full control over the network: policy routing, a guest SSID, port forwarding, DMZ, remote management over the web interface and SSH, and installation of additional packages. Network-wide ad and tracker blocking is available through AdGuard, and DNS encryption through DNS over TLS and DNS over HTTPS.
GemiGuard Mirage for the Flint
On request, we install GemiGuard Mirage — a build tailored for the Flint. Mirage strengthens the router’s privacy: it encrypts DNS queries, randomizes MAC and BSSID, wipes system logs and removes the history of connected Wi-Fi clients. This is an additional layer of anonymity for those who value confidentiality.
